concerts at the uni versity this foremost of canadian string ensembles provided the audience with the thrill which comes to all music lovers when the works of such masters as mozart and debussy are interpreted for them so characteristically and with such delicate finesse the program consisted of two quartets the first and only quartet of debussy and a quartet by mozart the debussy quartet written about twenty years ago contains four movements the iirnl from the french style second a schertze third andantino and fourth a mys tcrioso working up to the finale the sad longing notes of the viola in the andantino movement were extremely beautiful and characterized the wistful imagination of debussy more fully por trayed in his classic ' ' la mer " the mozart quartet was written when the composer was but fifteen years of age while the work is basically naive and childish the characteristic genius of mozart is evident the composition was written in three parts allegro de moll o minuet and presto the concert was fairly well attended but many of the faces were those of people outside of the university we feel sure that all who attended this con cert will be there again when the quartet returns and we warn all students that they cannot possibly afford to miss the two remaining recitals scholarship awards to meyer holder harwich three honorary awards for high scholarships were
