has been made by dr groves h cartledge professor of chemistry and chairman of the foster lecture committee that an other series of foster lectures will be given at the university during th week beginning april 4 the lec turer will be professor karl f herzfeld well known theoretical physicist of the catholic univer sity in washington and formerly of john.s hopinks university professor honorary society bisonhead men's honorary so ciety for the fifteenth consecutive year tapped outstanding junior men to its membership at the an nual junior prom held last friday in the ballroom of the hotel statler philip wels president of bison head stated in a short explanatory speech that the organization is positively unpredjudlced by any po litical alliances in the selection of its members all industrial disputes washington and lee debaters will be william l burner of warren ohio and thomas christopher of union south carolina washington and lee university is located at lexington success student union head delivers address secretary of a s u tells of importance aims and projects for campus organi zations herbert witt new york state executive secretary of the amer ican student union who is com pleting a tour of the upstate col leges vißited the university of buffalo last week to discuss plan's with local a s u members while here mr witt conferred with various student leaders including bill neil and tommy van arsdale on the future program of the american union branch at the university on thursday evening of last week mr witt delivered a talk at the meeting of the branch in the blue room of norton hall he stressed the non-partisan non-po litical character of the american student union and emphasized that the union is a flexible organi zation each individual branch taking on the characteristics of the college in which it is formed we must realize above all stated mr witt that the ameri can student union can exist only through activity it is not an educa tional group nor a debating society though both these features may be incorporated in it it is a broad active organization whose inter ests are limited only by the inter ests of the student body its mem bership ranges from the intellectual to the lcky-cat and to justify its existence it must be of real service to the student body on all local issues mr witt's visit to the university of buffalo was the last in a tour of upstate and western new york universities which included visits to cornell syracuse rochester smith vasßar and many other colleges the first of the educational class es of heads com mittee at model league of nations assembly six students of government and history in the college of arts and sciences will represent holland at the model league of nations as sembly which will be held at rut gers university at new brunswick new jersey on april 7 8 and 9 it was announced today by dr helen dwight reid dr reid who is as sociate professor of history and government at the university has been chosen as faculty adviser for the league assembly delegates and will attend the meetings at rutgers if her other duties permit members ot the student delega tion are cecil 3 farrar marie burns carlton l krathwohl john e macgamwell john h renault and lester w smith they were selected by dr reid and dean julian park of the college of arts and sciences who is also professor of european history and interna tional relations the students who were chosen on the basis ot back ground intellectual interest in world affairs and speaking ability will participate in some part ot the general discussion besides attend ing one ot the three major commit tee sessions new york state colleges and col leges in the other middle atlantic states each year schedule a model meeting of either the council or the assembly of the league of nations duplicating with the ut most care the procedure and at mosphere of league meetings thirty colleges are expected to be represented this year limited to three the major com mittees are 1 the commission on the far east 2 the commls policy lecturer discloses unique form of business organization brain trust plan of corporate management discussed by head of kendall company the successful adaptation of the brain trust principle of func tional management in a large scale enterprise was related to members of the school of business admin istration last tuesday by henry p kendall president of the twenty million dollar textile company which bears his name . widely known in educational circles as well as in the industrial field mr kendall's activities in behalf of scientific management have carried him to lecturer's posts at stanford and harvard as well as buffalo and earned him positions on many of the nation's outstanding business tnveatlga tlona he is co-author with two other associate members of the univer sity faculty dr edwin p day dean of the harvard business school and henry s dennlson member of the national labor board on profit sharing in in dus try hailing the technique of man agement used by hl firm as ". . . a method unique in american busi ness mr kendall sketched the development of the kendall com pany from its beginnings in 1903 when its plant consisted of a few wooden buildings with a staff of 75 workers to ltß present nation wide organization embracing a dozen operating subsidiaries em ploying over
