cents at the candy counter profits to be used to purchase band uniforms this afternoon the auditor ium of nortoir hall will rever berate with the music of jay moran and al williams these two bands will compete in the rattle of swing and you are to judge the winner the first session will begin at 12:30 p.m and last until l 25 p.m at which time the audience will leave and at 1 30 p.m another group will come in for an hour of listening pleasure tickets will be twen ty-five cents for each perform ance you may obtain your ticket from any member of the convocation committee or at the candy counter at norton pan hell to discuss new rushing system the panhellenic council of the university of buffalo will hold a general meeting on feb ruary 24th to which all officers of campus sororities and pledge officers have been invited the purpose of this conference is to discuss the advisability of changing the procedure of so rority rushing that is defer ring rushing from the first se mester of the freshman year to a later period the officers of each sorority will be asked to voice their opinions for or against adopting this new method information about rushing procedures at other colleges has been gathered and will be presented by marjorie daubert and june ulrich who are co chairmen of the discussion the meeting will begin prompt ly at 7:30 p.m in the east club room of norton hall the panhellenic representatives of each sorority will cast ballots for or against deferred rushing as instructed by their particu lar group vocational talks to be given for u b students dr stockton kimball will discuss medicine on february 26th in view of the fact that so many of our returning veter ans are in doubt as to what particular vocation they wish to pursue after graduation the personnel office in conjunction with the program committee of norton union is planning a series of informative talks by members of the faculty and various outside organizations to assist those who are uncer tain about their plans for the future the tremendous increase in the number of applicants for college training in our univer sity is merely an example of what is happening throughout colleges and universities all over the country this seems to be a good indication of the increased demand by business for general and professional training there will be strong tendencies on the part of the emloyers to require the addi tional knowledge gained by having had a college education with increasing emphasis being placed on advanced or special ized types of training the most important problem for those in college now is to em phasize quality as well as amount of work in their chosen field this will be a decidedly important factor in obtaining better opportunities for the in dividual in the business world these forthcoming talks will be presided over by specialists in their respective fields they are designed to cover the main fields of study one may enter on this campus somewhat less attention will be given to en gineering and business admin istration than to the other pro fessions since the curricula and requirements for work in these groups are outlined more completely in the catalogues or are covered in course lectures subject matter will contain many informative points as to what courses of study would be most advantageous to the individual ray mckinley to play for junior prom tickets to go on sale monday february 24 for twenty sixth annual prom in order to make the univer sity's most outstanding social event of the year a success the twenty-sixth annual jun ior prom committee has gone all out this year plans have been made to secure the ser vices of mr rhythm ray mckinley to those who aren't in the know his vocals bis drums and his orchestra the prom is to be held in the main ballroom of tbe ho tel statler the night of march 22nd dancing to be from 10:00 p.m until 2:00 a.m the price of the tickets will be 6.60 tax included and they will go on sale in a special booth set up in norton union monday february 24th which will be open from 11:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m on monday the sales will be confined to juniors seniors and instructors only and for four days there after — at the same time 1 1 00 a.m to 2:00 p.m to the re mainder of the student body there are a limited number of tickets and when they have been sold it campus clubs compete for prizes march 13 this is a warning all so rorities frats clubs and other organization on the campus had better brush up on their skits songs tricks and other enter taining offerings because stunt night is drawing nigh it is scheduled for thursday march 13th at 8:00 p.m in norton auditorium prizes will be awarded for the best stunt in each division that is one for the frats one for tbe so rorities and so on a
