galen starr boss educational director for the dodds alderney dairy co mr ross is a nationally known lecturer and writer and more than lived up to i his reputation • mr ross spoke on the practical ideals of american education he pointed out wherein personality is re > lated to education where there is per sonality devoid of character you have one of the greatest evil forces in tho world and vice versa with personality plus character a person will be a great asset to the world health is vital to personality the truly educated person realizes the value id health and thus a person who starts to build up a healthy body is laying the foundation for success anil happiness mr rons declared that money intel ligence is a part of one's education a person must learn the practical use and value of the dollar economic wisdom is very essentiiil to a perfect education there wore many other points of practical value given by mr ross he told the club that it took courage to have a mind of one's own and to stand up for one's belief the young men were told to always strive to have high ideals and to work hard to make them come true the last thought that mr ross left with those present was to have a heart — if not then civilization is doomed in sill the efforts to make a success a person must never stifle the human emotions that will rise in the heart for without these a person will lose sight of his ideals and cannot be a com plete success the college that had the largest dele gation present was to receive decorated cigarette lighters the arts college men won the award and were virgil dante and bangs professor bangs read the debate on whether shakespeare or bacon wrote hamlet the debute assumes a dig nity in its dialogue among the great mighties that raises it somewhat above the atmosphere of the pool room in which it takes place the conclu sion seems to be that shakospoaro was bsicon's stenographer and therefore got the plot from him at this point sir walter raleigh furnishes the as tounding bit of news that he wrote hamlet one gasps and sinks one might as well accuse o,ueen victoria of writing the decameron in the darwinian episode of the house boat on the styx exaggerations and clever satire it describes in minute sin imaginary day spent with that ex ponent of the strenuous life theodore roosevelt such superhuman accom plishments were performed as a forty mile canter before breakfast the last time mr bangs had ridden horseback it had been on professor bang's hobby horse chopping down a forest of trees stacking si field of hay rowing twenty miles down experiments in psychology dean gregory is prepared to submit a stupendous contribution to the field of psychology in his school of phar macy he has a unique method by which exemptions from final examina tions can be earned he submit this plan each year to the classes for ac ceptance or rejection invariably for the last eight or ten years all have enthusiastically accepted this proposi tion namely thai after subjects have been presented to the students in the classrooms they submit to unannounced written quizzes after a series of at least jive of these surprise tests all those who attain an average of eighty five per cent or above are exempted from the final examinations after observing for several years in the past dean gregory discovered that more exemptions were granted to the students who sat in the front of the room those whose back names ap pear in the early part of the alphabet this was confirmed year after year hence the important generalization individuals whose names begin with a li (.'., etc are much more intelli gent than those whoso names unfor tunately are morse s,it or whatnot like an oxporioneod psychologist i lean gregory supports his statement with remarkable examples for instance he says there is chancellor capen ad ministrative head of this university mr cook on the board of directors mr crass asurer mr black as sistant treasurer and myself if
