stipulate that each student will be permitted to vote m that election once only this restriction was m compliance with the motion passed at the last board of managers meeting which instructed the mud committee to take measures to prevent proxy voting the election rules are as fol lows 1 voting booths will be open m norton union medical dental and law schools at the following times norton west room 9:00-3:00 med main corridor 9:00-2:30 dent main corridor 9:00-2:30 law main corridor 9:00-2:30 no provisions have been made for booths m any of the other di visions of the university 2 only members of the election committee will handle the ballots and norton cards in addition to minimize confusion only persons actually engaged m voting will be allowed near the booths or ballot boxes 3 there will be no campaign ing above the first floor of nu or within 50 feet of the booths at med dent and law schools 4 a nu card will be necessary to vote and m addition each per son presenting a card will be stamped with indelible ink to in sure that each person votes once only 5 the election committee m conjunction with some responsible official or faculty member shall count the total vote immediately following the close of the booths on tuesday interested parties will not be allowed to partici engineers hold giant open house this afternoon and evening from 4:00 to 9:30 the engineer ing school is holding a giant open house this is one of the largest campus functions of the engineers and also one of the most interest ing as proven by the attendance ast year of over 4000 people the abs and shops will be open to all students and to the general public who will be conducted on guided tours by the engineers machines and apparatus will be operated and special experiments performed this open house was organized and will be managed entirely by engineering students and is de signed to foster better understand ing of the school of engineering among non-engineers here is a golden opportunity for he nortonites to see just what he slipstick boys find so engross ing over on the west side of the campus alpha sigma phi presents revue of sweethearts for the loveliest display of lovelies yet to be entered m any one campaign don't miss the sweetheart's revue sponsored by alpha sigma phi fraternity on monday may 1 at 12:30 ten can didates for moving up day sweet heart will be presented m a pro gram m norton auditorium don holzman the magical m c will preside at the revue among the outstanding features of the afternoon will be acts from the nsa show an explanation of moving up day by chairmen dick davies and jack keller and coach jim wilson's version of the inter squad football game which will be played on moving up day in keeping with this glamorous revue soft and mellow music will be supplied by the happy har moneers under the direction of maestro skip board this will most likely be the only opportunity the student body will have to see the candidates side by side before the election next wed nesday bigger and better to be idea of yearbook the buffalonian will go on sale dally starting monday may 1 a table will be set up in norton union from 11 until 2 throughout the month of may subscription blanks will be honored at this time and will be invalid after the first of june the book will be 6 pages larger than last year and will contain colored art work but the price will remain the same that is 4.00 or a subscription blank and 3.00 those students who wish to purchase a copy but who have not aa yet subscribed may do so by paying 4.50 now and receiving their buffalonian by mail later this summer this price ot 4.50 will include the mailing costs highlights of this year's book will be alternating color and art work patterned after the style of mr strenberg the artist who is famous for his sophisticated line sketches m the new yorker rose day proceeds go to senior fund monday may 1 is rose day at the university of buffalo william burke chairman of the rose day committee has ordered 1500 long stemmed roses to be sold all day monday m all schools and m nor ton union the sale of the roses l-.egins at 9:30 a.m and the pro ceeds from the sale go to the senior scholarship fund fifteen cents has been set as the minimum contribution per rose though no limit restricts the maximum amount which may be donated to the fund put this rose day long m the memory of every senior — buy a robe annual ivy day to be held may 2 the 27th annual ivy day cere monies will take place on tues day may 2nd ivy day an im portant part of senior week is the tradition ceremony during which ivy is planted at the base of edmund hayes hall m remem brance of the graduating class beginning m 1923 and continu ing unbroken to date ivy day has been celebrated as a university tradition this year the school of business administration rep resented by jack bradigan will present the ivy the symbol of a constant living bond between the class of 1950 and the university the ceremony will begin at 3:30 m the afternoon with a procession from crosby hall this proces sion is to be led by four marshals who are the vice-presidents of the schools of arts and sciences pharmacy education and engi neering the marshals will be followed by the deans of those schools with the senior class pres idents of those schools chancellor capen making his final ivy day speech will accept the presentation with a short speech ivy day this year not only marks the close of the un dergraduate days for the class of 50 but also the closing days of chancellor capen's fine work as leader of a university which rose under his direction to its present ligh level the ivy day orator will be hil ary bradford senior member of the 1950 class of arts and scien ces and a major m history and government hillory is also pres ident of the debate society and was elected to phi beta kappa m 1949 a reception to which all the members of the senior class are invited will be held at norton hall auditorium from four to five wed nesday afternoon class elections to take place wed may 3 the election of class officers m the schools of arts and sciences business administration educa tion and pharmacy is to be held wednesday may 3 between 9:00 a.m and 2:30 p.m the nu elec tion committee will have over-all control of the election while the present officers will preside over the booths students may vote only for can didates m their respective schools and classes and must vote only at the booth designated for their respective schools arts and sci ences students vote m hayes hall bus ad students m crosby hall pharmacy students m fos ter hall and education students may vote m either hayes haß or clark gymnasium norton cards must be presented to receive a ballot and at that time the student will be checked on a control list of students for eligibility to vote in this election no campaigning will be permitted within 20 feet of the voting booths year by year the student offi cers acquire more and more re sponsibility — a fact the election committee would like all student voters to keep m mind the com mittee feels the voters should se lect for office those candidates of recognized leadership ability announcement of the 1950-51 class officers will be made im mediatey upon completion of the counting of the ballots cherry hill club for senior party instead of a stuffy old ball the seniors will this year throw a real party to celebrate their passing from our midst scheduled for june 6 following exams the dance party will be held at the cherry hill country club m canada — just 16 miles from the ub campus besides the chance to let off some of that exam week steam there will be the opportunity to dance from 9:30 p.m to 1:30 a.m to the music of craig lindsay's or chestra m the land where ale is 25 cents a bottle invitations m return for a 2 donation per cou ple which goes to the senior scholarship fund will be avail able starting monday may 1 n d scene for n s a talent ma spring show tonp gala revue is planned be spring talent show will presented by the national iil m association ot u b in norton auditorium tonight at 8:00 p.m and at that time the curtain will go up on what promises to be an evening of stellar entertain ment for 60 cents per person those attending will see a diver sified program presenting every thing from figaro to clever im personations tickets to the show will be on sale m norton lobby all day today and at the door tonight in addition to the u b thespian efforts acts have been entered from niagara university st bon aventure college and buffalo state teachers college an im pressive array of prizes is being offered to the most talented en tertainers for first place win ners there will be 15 dollars and a trophy which is being given by sigma kappa sorority second i prize will be 10 dollars and the third place award is 5 dollars competing for these prizes are vo calist david sweet pianist walter wieszciecinski exotic title given to the moving up day dance to be held in norton union saturday night may 6 from 9:00 to 1:00 the south sea island theme is to commemorate the forthcoming admission of hawaii as our 49th state and m this re spect the decorations and general atmosphere of the dance will be strictly south sea as each couple arrives they will be bedecked with lels and when they later tire of dancing beneath the simu lated palms a louou m the cafe teria awaits them the price of admission to this informal dance is 75 cents a couple with no norton card required for this is part of our mud open house
