through to late september honor gives university much added prestige it has recently been announced that the university of buffalo has beeu of ficially affiliated with the geneva school of international studies with which dean park has been connected since its founding the school is uuder the direction of mr alfred zimmer a man well kuowu to the students of our university it is in session from july through sep tember of each year and is open to students from all over the world at the fourth session which took place iu the summer of 1927 there were in at tendance 355 students from 30 couu tries and 130 universities of whom 184 were of graduate rank the nverage period of residence was oue month since the school is ruu upon euro pean methods it already bus the sanc tion of european universities in order that american students may receive credit in america for their work at the school it is desirable that it be spon soied by some american university which will arrange a system of grant ing credits in semester hours that can then be transferred to other american colleges through the efforts of dean park the university of buffalo has be come that official american sponsor but this entails no financial obligation this honor will mean much added prestige for the university the fol lowing extract from a letter by mr zimmer to mr charles p howland of the american executive committee of the school shows his attitude toward the university and the sort of publicity which the incorporation of the school will cause to be spread about the uni versity both here and abroad i now fully understand that it is desired as a part of a general policy now being adopted in america and as a security for donors of mouey that the school should form part of a corporate institution " this was not clear to me before i had understood that it was felt that the school should not continue as a one-man venture but 1 had every reason to believe that the transference of responsibility to a carefully selected body of trustees would meet this ob jection both sir arthur salter and i now realize that such an arrangement is not considered sufficient i therefore willingly accept the suggestion put for ward by dean i'ark for the incorpora tion of the school in the university of buffalo with which 1 have close links not only through the association with dean i'ark
