students get busy and enter the big cheer and song contest now being con ducted by the uke try your hand at some cheers and some songs senel them in anil win a prize the contest closes march 24th and in assembly on march 27th the winning compositions will be presented to the students now is the time to think about these things for next ye'ar new songs are needed for assemblies and for the games as well as new cheers one of the big gest assets to school spirit would be some new cheers which the stuelents would like anil cheer in earnest there are many students whu are capable of composing cheers and songs and with the added incentive of a very appreci able prize many contributions shuulel be forthcoming a special assembly has been arranged to try out these in novations ami only through the co-op eration of every student can this be made a successful day mr ward has consented to write music for all the poems which are sub ; mitteel as possible songs songs of any type will be accepted ami appro priate music written for them r bison head honors basketeers at dance music furnished by snappy briar cliffe orchestra powell trophy to be presented to best foul shooter tonight at the urover cleveland clubhouse bison head honors the bas ketball squael with a dance this is tho second annual basketball dance given by this society tonight is the last time that the team will be together as a unit for lou brizdle hy bass and gus stoesser will bo missing from the ranks when next year's team takes the floor this year ihe boys played good ball auel came thru the season successfully although they did not win every game they played a brand of basketball that was highly commendable anil won a moral victory for themselves the feature of the evening will be the presentation of the powell trophy to the winner of the foul shooting con test this award will be made by art powell the coach of the team to the member of the squad who has main tained the highest average in foul shooting distribute celebrity number tuesday march 20 next tuesday will be ono of the most eventful days in the history of bison a celebrity number will be of fered to the public and it certainly is a leaders of league a nanexed the title in the fraternity ague by defeating alpha beta pi the winners of league b the game ended with the score 31 to 12 in favor of kappa nu ihe leaders in both leagues library at 8 o'clock on friday march 16 miss g e johnson to again produce the little theater mr stanley travis will assist in play development miss gertrude e johnson associate professor of speech anel dramatics at the university of wisconsin has been secured to give courses in the univer sity of buffalo 1928 summer session it is expected that many students will take advantage of the opportunity to elect courses with this widely known specialist in this field miss johnson has been a member of the department at wisconsin for the past 17 years and has had experience on tho faculties of many other colleges and universities she is a member of the national com mittee on plays of tho national coun cil of teachers of english vice presi elent of national collegiate players advisory editor of the players maga zine she is the author of choosing a play modern literature for oral interpretation and dialects for oral interpretation she will give courses in effective speaking interpre tive beading anil play production there will also be uuusual opportun ity for students in the summer session to participate in the production of lit tle theater plays for it is planned to have a number of informal interpreta tions and productions and possibly one or two three-act plays may be produced students in miss johnson's classes nnd other students of the summer session who are interested in the drama are eligible to take part in tho plays mr stanley travis of the english depart ment who was a member of the mc phail little theater players of minne apolis for a year will co-operate with li>s johnson and have immediate charge of the production of the plays mr travis has just recently completed ten nights of playing in the studio i school of the thi'ater at utica and i them candidates for b a to receive credit for music courses summer session offers 30 different art courses at the last meeting of the faculty of the college it wrrs voted to allow under graduate students working for the b a degree to elect a maximum of 16 semester credit hours of work in the fields of music and art provided the courses are approved by the dean whilo certain credit has in rare in stances been allowed previously in mu sic and art toward this degree no defin ite action on the part of the faculty has previously been taken students who are interested in either music or art will have an opportunity of consider able choice of electives in either music or art in the coming summer session as 30 courses in music and eight in art will be offered this is the first sum r session in
