honor of the 1h24 grid men was held in the ballroom of hotel buffalo saturday evening december 13th by the bison head head senior society it was in truth a university dance tor all the schools and the college were represented the u b clef dwellers furnished the music for the occasion and again proved their superiority as a jazz orchestra worthy of note mr and mrs william j blackburn and mr and mrs russ carrick were th chaperones the singing of robe hickey of the dental school was a added feature which was greatly e joyed jim ailinger vice-president of th hison head president of the block club and seven letter man wa chairman of the dance committee anc with the rest of his committee la bored zealously to insure the succe of the dance the bison head in running th dance wished to pay tribute to th sacrifices of the football men wh during the past few months hav worked and fought for the univer sity the sacrifice entailed in giving night after night for practice is not readily appreciated by the average student from six to half-past nine for five nights a week the football men worked taking all sorts of hard knocks and making all sorts of sac rifices the annual university foot ball dance is a slight indication of the appreciation of the university for the efforts of the team the bison head plans to run a university football dance every fall as part of its annual endeavor the social success of the dance this year was great but better attendance at future dances is hoped for parents visit u of b parents night at the university of rsuffalo was observed for the first time in committee of girls who served punch on the occasion both science and foster halls were open for inspection and many students availed themselves of the opportunity to show their parents thru the buildings indeed the num ber of parents who attended was gratifying and is another evidence of the interest of the citizens of buffalo in their university there is little doubt that parents night will come to be an annual institution at the university of buffalo songfest held at science hall students and faculty members who took part in the songfest wed nesday afternoon december 10th at science entertain children at christmas party the christmas spirit was abroad last evening when the university of buffalo women's club brought twenty-five children from the chil dren's aid society and entertained them in royal fashion at a christmas party the girls room in foster hall which was the scene of the festivi ties lost its accustomed dignified and comfortable appearance and assumed an air of yuletlde gaiety in a profusion of holly and christmas decorations soft red lights and an enormous tinsel-decked tree the never failing friend of the children old santa clans himself was there to dispense gifts and christmas cheer the competent committee in charge directed the fun and games for three hours merriment and father christmas held court together and at nine o'clock the happy tired little guests were returned to their homes the children's christmas party is the only charity work which the women's club undertakes during the year and for this occasion time and effort and money are given un selfishly to insure its success the next meeting of the women's club will be held on january 7 in foster hall freshmex petition for basketball team the freshmen are anxious to have a year when they stack up against the renowned toronto university five the canadians boast of an exceedingly powerful defense together with what is claim ed to be a fast tricky offense as the toronto quintet is composed of men reputed to far outweigh and outreach the bulls a hard fight is looked foi the toronto team is especially anxious to avenge last year's defeat and to wipe out the sting of former setbacks those who were fortunate enough to view last year's meeting of these two teams will remember the game as the most thrilling of the year with the exception of the cornell game toronto is coming here with prac tically the same line-up as played in buffalo last year that team was considered undoubtedly the best team in ontario and lost the cana dian inter-collegiate championship playoff by a single point truly tliis is a team worthy of the bulls of last year's remarkable team two men only caple and laidman have been lost to the squad while buffalo has suffered the deprivation of van ini ailinger selgel and berlove by all the dope available the bulls rhould be in for a trimming but lou farris says that despite the fact he is the only veteran play ing first string buffalo will emerge victorious ibeing outweighed and outreached by the visitors and not having the experience which thr canadians have undergone the bulls do not seem to have any easy time in hand for next friday night the rminers-up for the maple leaf championship are coming here with nine players and a complete training and coaching staff deter mined as their advance letters show to take home the scalp of their yearly rivals the attendance of every student and all his friends is absolutely essential friday night if the bulls are going to win it will only be through super-human efforts and
