predicts loosely structured classes with studies especially designed for the individual student in the year 2,000 this was one of the opinions ex pressed by mrs florence baugh in an exclusive interview at the community action headquarters reporter what will the educational system look like in the year 2,000 mrs baugh the educational system in the year 2,000 will be based upon the new scientific and technologi cal methods loosely structured with individual programs developed es pecially for the student each child will be able to advance at his/her own individual pace reporter what changes have been made that would have aided you in learning when you attended school mrs baugh the early childhood centers head start programs chil dren's educational programs like public television's sesame street and computers would have allowed us greater career development opportuni ties students are exposed to many times the amount of information today then they were when i was young reporter what are some of the major accomplishments by the school board during your tenure mrs baugh integration of the buffalo pubuc schools and the magnet school that are models for other school districts in america reporter what are some of the major disappointments mrs baugh the under-financing of the schools in the city every year too much of the board of education's time and energy is spent trying to get enough money to run the schools properly education should be society's first priority if we spend ample time and resources on education then our youths will come up with solutions and inventions for our societal problems - after all of these years i still find that racism still exists in buffalo reporter what can the public do to help mrs baugh the best thing for the average person to do is keep aware of what is going on in the classroom the administration poutics that effect educa tion reporter how did your being a member of the board of education effect your children's education mrs baugh it had a positive effect by forcing them to strive harder for excellence it also put • lot of pressure on them it seemed that teachers and students alike failed to realize that they were just normal chudren reporter do your relatives and friends get frustrated when you cannot personnaly settle ail of their problems with the educational system mr baugh not my relatives and sensible friends but many people think that i wave a magic wand i can do only what is legal and in order to get anything changed i must convince a majority of the board members to get
