demonstrations crafts and traditional cus toms from around the world will be held in the buffalo convention cen ter friday april 26th thrugh sunday april 28th a fresh new look is planned for the 1985 festival you will find an old world marketplace on the upper level where shops offer authentic gifts and crafts and then wander among charming sidewalk cafes that tempt you with international culinary delights relax in centrally located plazas traditional ethnic dances and music on the main stage will entertain festival-goers throughout the three-day event special children's per formances are offered sat urday and sunday after noons including on sun day a special ameri cana segment on the lower level of the convention center a showcase on the world will feture ethnic food dancing and a variety of entertainment an ex citing new feature on this level is the cultural extravaganza room here special how-to dem onstrations include ben galese doll-making dulcimer-construction native american bead work and scrimshaw in this room also one will view the crowning tabeau from a greek weeding and hear the recorded voice of luciano pavarotti singing verdi and puccini arias as part of rochester's prominent i doctors was buried tuesday feb 26 at 1 ' p.m from the memorial ame zion church 540 clarissa st rev a n gibson pastor officiated dr lunsford was born may 15 1891 in macon georgia the son of a cotton sampler and the grandson of a direct descendant of the earl of lunsford in england at the age of fifteen he moved from macon to washington d c where he attended howard prep school and later howard university from howard he received a bachelor's degree and his medical degree in 1931 at the insistence of his friends from this area he moved to rochester in 1921 because there was no black physician in ro chester it was not long before he had built up a loyal clientel of patients both black and white he not only fought disease he became actively involved in the fight against racial discrimination he spoke out bravely and consis tently against racial in justices of all kinds and served as a catalyst tor change dr charles t lunsford sorority chapter to sponsor property school and state taxes d'amato shown with senators cranston moynihan and wilson announced the beginning of a campaign to protect this deduction for working middle class homeowners the elimination of this deduction would be a severe blow to most new yorkers costing the average homeowner an extra 617.99 each year in federal taxes when congress first established the federal income tax in 1913 its express purpose in allowing a deduction tor state and local taxes was to avoid double taxa tion which is precisely what this new tax plan will bring about senator d'amato said rev douglas goggins sr succumbs the rev douglas gog gins sr 81 a minister for over 41 years died saturday march 16 1985 in sisters hos pital funeral services will be held wednesday mar 20th at 11 a.m in the church of god 526 high st mr ctoggms was a pioneer in establishing the church of god after moving to buffalo in 1934 from his native home in anniston alabama he was employed by the buffalo pipe for 20 years and later for the amherst foundry from which he retired in 1970 mr goggins and the late willis griffin gog gins his first wife were married for 54 years she died in 1977 in 1978 he married tabitha brown who survives rev goggins was the father of birdie of ft wayne indiana the late louise wood dr latharthus goggins of akron ohio pricilla bonds bethina lane lorraine williams trun nis goggins agazalee blodget sarah pittman douglas jr and exertis goggins and the step father of the rev allen turner of boston mass he is also survived by 43 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren a sister mainten ance and enhancement of health and not just the treatment of illness hence political nursing blackwell robinson seek ecc physical education complex county legislators roger i blackwell and barry l robinson both buffalo democrats helped the erie county legisla ture to approve a measure endorsing the inclusion of space for an erie com munity college physical education complex in the proposed downtown buffalo baseball stadium the legislature with blackwell and robinson both voting yes passed the resolution which aims for the consolidation of the physical education com plex with the stadium which is proposed for a site on seneca st ad jacent to the college's city . campus blackwell said this proposal represents an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone and save the county a considerable amount of money in the process - the resolution notes that the college is facing a mandate from the u s office of civil rights to provide students with . instructional space for the city campus physical edu cation programming the developers of the stadium meanwhile have accommodated the col leges needs by recom mending to county officials the construction of two unfinished lower levels that could be developed into a physical education facility at a later date according to robinson the 2.5 million price tag — for construction of the space and its subsequent development — is sub stantially lower than the costs would be later if the college were to construct its own physical education building another advantage he said would be that the field access tunnel and game equipment storage area are already included in the stadium and would not require additional county expenditures the developers have extended us the courtesy of making this proposal now it's up to us to decide whether that's the best choice and to go ahead with it said robinson the resolution asks the county executive to form ally advise the legislature before april ist as to whether he supports the legislature's endorsement of the plan to include ecc's physical education facilities within the base ball stadium workman in new post m & t bank has announced the promotion of daniel s workman jr
