holy convo cation a church official said today the annual general con vention of the 3.6 million member memphis-based denomination will be held nov 6th to 15th in memphis - approximately 4,000 more persons are expected to attend this year over last year's estimated 46,000 due to the nov 15th four-year election of general officers two vacancies were recently created on the 12-man general board by president of goldome bank ****. rear admiral mckenzie addrssed the topic how real is the threat in the caribbean admiral mckenzie was awarded the defense distinguished service medal which is america's highest peacetime medal in 1969 rear admiral mckenzie assumed the command of the u.s.s cocapon during the viet nam conflict for outstanding performance in that assignment the admiral was awarded the meritorious service medal and bronze star medal admiral mckenzie was introduced by general thomas bo wen minister buried from shiloh home-going services for dr ivor moore were held tuesday oct 16th at 1 p.m from first shiloh baptist church 15 pine st rev moore was born in atlanta georgia june 9 1914 he was the son of the late ivor and ethel madison moore he attended the public schools in buffalo the university of buffalo al fred university and the colgate rochester divinity school rev moore was called to the ministry in 1941 he was ordained in 1944 at the first shiloh baptist church in buffalo where he served for a period as youth minister and where he married his childhood sweetheart mattie eugenia echols in 1940 during his more than 40 years in the ministry rev moore served as pastor of the second baptist church in mum ford n v the st john baptist church in gary indiana and was pastor emeritus of the walker memorial missionary baptist church of new york city from which he retired in 1981 an active leader rev moore served his denom ination as president of the baptist board of education center of new york moderator of the united missionary baptist churches president of the baptist ministers confer ence of greater new york and vicinity and as a member of the home mission board national baptist convention-usa inc for several years he served as bible instructor for the ministers class of the empire baptist mis sionary convention he also served for 25 years as mediation leader for the ministers division of the national baptist conven tion surviving rev moore are his involved in community affairs she is a certified arbitration specialist for the better business bureau of wes tern new york she is an editoralist her articles have appeared on the editorial pages of
