be launched congressmen jack f kemp john j lafalce and henry j nowak will all participate in a national veterans small business conference scheduled to be held in buffalo on sat may sth joining the congress men will be the mayor of buffalo and the erie county executive who will proclaim may sth as veterans small business day in buffalo and erie county the conference co sponsored by erie com munity college and the veterans administration is part of the u s small business administration's sbai nation-wide efforts to upgrade and provide management and technical training for veteran according to franklin j sciortino buffalo branch manger of sba the training session will be of spectal interest to vietnam era and disabled veterans many of who want to go into business for them selves we have organized this seminar to offer practical training counsel ing for veterans already in business and for eterans starting their own busi ness added sciortino the seminar will offer veterans the opportunity to participate in a variety of counseling sessions that include topics ranging from the business plan to computers in small busi ness another special feature of the conference is peer counseling in which veter ans will be given the opportunity to talk with veterans who are now successful businessmen in the buffalo community overall we are quite pleased with the design of this conference said sciortino we are not going to mislead veteran and say that this confer ence will get them started in business but what we are saying is that we will offer veterans a chance to take advantage of some quality management train ing and an opportunity to exchange ideas and views with their representa tives area representatives to participate in may sth small business conference author and is the founder of women's action for nuclear disarm ament and is the president emeritus of physicians for social responsibility her books include nuclear madness which calls for a halt to quickly in re sponse to governor cuomo's commitment of assistance to the city of buffalo eve explained that as a result of the explosion a large number of homes be longing to low or moderate income id-buffalo has announced that the public service commis sion approved new ex panded procedures in plain language for hand ling complaints brought to the commision by utility customers the consumer ser vices divsion receives and acts on some 60,000 consumer complaints an nually according to hoyt the new complaint procedures will provide assistance and protections to consumers the major new features of the complaint pro cedures included 1 assignment at a customer's request of an advocate from the division staff to help prepare and present a complaint 2 recording at a customer's request of the
