heap hotline at 846 7870 services held for george morgan jr memorial services for the late george morgan jr were held friday january 6th from first timothy baptist church 1467 genesee st the rev kenneth wilkerson is pastor the rev robert a lowe officiated mr morgan was born in buffalo on october 10 1929 he was the oldest son of the late george and lillie mac austin mor gan he attended public school no 31 and in 1947 graduated from hutchin son central high school excelling in his studies during his teenage years george was very active in various sports as a member of the mohigan club that played for wardner h jones softball team he was noted for his pitching abilities later he joined the weblows basketball team and participated with great enthusiasm he became an employee of the chevrolet buffalo plant oct 13 1948 later he joined the united states army and served in germany during the korean war after his tour of duty he returned to chevrolet and continued working until his retire ment in oct 1978 george was very inter ested in real estate and majored in courses to broaden his knowledge in that profession at bryant and stratton business institute and buffalo state college as a licensed real estate broker he had offices in the statler hotel the sidway building and various other places he was a loving and ch"erful man being ex tremely skilled in the art of humor on october 10 1953 he was united in holy matri mony to leola mccul lough november 17 1983 he was admitted to roswell park memorial institute sunday january ]. 1984 he passes away surviving him are a loving wife leila a daughter janice marie ralph hunter of atlan ta georgia two sons george 111 and michael two grandchildren five sisters eleanor emery means inez : leonard ashley annie m robert jr fears sandra paris mims renee leon chat mon and two brothers james bereneice and gerald maxine he is also survived by other relatives and many friends the melodious spiritual precious lord was itson ! george morgan jr de witt lee dies suddenly funeral services for dewitt r lee jr 46 were held at 11 a.m sat jan 7 at the young's tabernacle holiness church 623 best st mr lee was a state division for youth super visor and organizer of the first jaycee chapter in a ' state prison he passed away sun jan 1 1984 in buffalo general hospital a buffalo native mr lee was executive director of the upstate new york regional minority pur chasing council in addi tion to working as a youth development supervisor for the state mr lee was executive director of bridge volun teers associates and a former recreation director of the drug abuse re search and treatment center ' in 1972 he founded the first jaycee chapter in a state prison when he became president of the branch in auburn correc tional facility after having a life sentence for his role in a 1958 murder commuted in 1972 and after 14 years in prison mr lee continued work ing with the jaycees and other community organiza tions in 1974 he won the jaycees distinguished service award and in 1975 was runner-up for the organization's 10 out standing young men in america award he was also named a life member of the international jay cees senate and traveled around the country giving presentations while serv ing as criminal justice chairman for the group in addition mr lee was a prince hall mason a member of the 100 black men of buffalo the ken more jaycees hadji tem ple no 61 and the buffalo chapter of the naacp mr lee was also chair man of the buffalo general hospital's consumer ad visory board erie county manpower advisory board council's evaluation com mittee a member of erie community college's business advisory com mittee and niagara com munity college's criminal justice committee . mr lee had been involved in politics for rehabilitation specialist named to kiwanis administrative post indianapolis indiana — winning rehabilitation specialist ronald l west of carmel indiana is the new assistant to the secretary of kiwanis in ternational his appoint ment to the kiwanis administrative post was recently announced by international secretary gil h zitzelsberger we're proud to have the services of an out standing kiwanian reha bilitation specialist and highly capable administra tor for this important post says secretary zit zelsberger ron's ap pointment came only after hi extensive search and careful istration has announced details of the sba physical disaster loan program available to east side victims of the recent explosion any east side disaster victim who owns property or rents in one of the blocks which have been declared disaster areas by the sba administrator as a result of the explosion on dec 27 1983 may apply for direct sba disaster loans mr sciortino said these loans may be used to repair or replace damaged or des troyed homes personal property or businesses the 30 square block area of the city of buffalo bounded by howard st on the north south division st on the east and jefferson aye on the west are declared a disaster area by the sba administrator on jan llth mr sciortino said vie . tims may obtain disaster loan applications from sba officials stationed in the sba disaster office this office is located in the federal building at 111 west huron st room 1305 beginning monday jan 16th through friday daily from 8 a.m to 5 m sba disaster loans are made to qualified appli cants who have suffered tangible property loss as a result of the explosion homeowners may ob tain direct home repair and replacement loans of up to 50,000 for real property damage and loans of up to 10,000 for damage or destroyed per sonal property however . the combined maximum for one borrower may not exceed 55,000 persons who are renting a home or an apartment may apply only for a loan of up to 10,00 to cover damage or destroyed personal property businesses which have suffered physical damage to real property ma chinery equipment fix tures and inventory may apply for direct sba loans ' of up to 85 percent of the verified loss total loss minus insurance proceeds or other compensation up to a total of 500,000 small businesses may • also apply for economic injury disaster loans edil to permit a busi ness to meet its financial obligations which the busi ness could have met had the disaster not occurred eidls are made to small businesses which have suffered substantial eco nomic injury as a direct result of the disaster whether or not the busi ness has suffered physical damage the business must be unable to ob tain funds from other sources an eidl may be made for up to 500,000 however a single busi ness applicant may not receive more than 500 000 for a physical disaster loan an eidl or any combination remember that sba makes loans not grants said mr sciortino obvi ous our first priority is to determine whether an applicant has an ability to repay a loan after we determine this then we determine what interest rate will be charged " the interest rates which sba charges on its disas ter loans for homes persona property and businesses through a ' credit elsewhere test after examining financial information submitted on the loan application if sba determines that an applicant is able to obtain funding from other sourc es personal assets banks etc to rebuild following the disaster they must be charged a higher interest rate than an applicant who is unable to obtain the , funding from other sourc es the interest rates to be charged for this disaster are loans for homeown ers personal property , applicant able to obtain credit elsewhere 12.5 percent applicant unable to obtain credit elsewhere 6.25 percent loans for physical damage to busi nesses applicant able to obtain credit elsewhere 11.0 percent applicant unable to obtain credit elsewhere 8.0 percei other non-profit charit able and religious organi zations 10.5 percent eco nomic injury disaster loans 8.0 percent percent sba disaster loans for homeowners and personal property may be made for up to a 30 year term however the actual length of the loan will be determined by the indi vidual applicant's ability to repay disaster loans to busi nesses which are able to obtain credit elsewhere may only be made for a period up to th.cc years loans to businesses which are unable to obtain credit elsewhere may be make for up to 30 years eidls may be made for up to 30 years sba disaster loans for homeowners tenants and businesses may only be made for the amount of damage which exceeds the applicant's insurance coverage for more informa tion disaster victims should contact an
