willi george bush bashing liberal ism in general and the american civil lil.eriia-is union aclui and democratic residential candidate michael dukakis seemly running away from the democra ik convention platform and the liberal label only the new alliance party's candidate la-nora fulani has been ■rava-ling through the gheltoes and l.arriors expounding mosl of the traditional liberal plank syndicated columnist carl rowan wrote 10-24-88 democratic liberal franklin roosevelt knew that millions of americans could not save for their future he pushed through a federal program to give a floor of economic support to the aged by taking workers ' wages or forced employees to contri bute to a social security fund liberals like hubert humphrey produced medicare and medicaid which lifted millions of the aged and the more above the ravages of illnesses liberals produced a food stamp program that has erased much of the shame of rampant hunger in the wealthiest nation in the world the great society liberal lyndon johnson pushed through the 1965 federal aid to higher education act which opened the door to post-high school education for millions of poor while black and hispanic youngsters it is a pity that dukakis has chosen to run from the word liberal rather than poke out his chest and remind voters of all the wonderful changes liberals have brought about in america fulani says that with a national campaign by a black independent on the ballot in every slate the rev jesse jackson is free to pursue his most pragmatic aims within the democratic party without having to worry about loss of support from his base due to a lack of militancy for if black leadership educates the black electorate to change its voting habits by pouring it on in massive numbers in the primaries is a demonstration of black voting strength with a plan to withdraw that bloc from the party anil give it to the party as it best serves our interest when fulani announced her candi dacy for the presidency she said there are millions of americans from every walk of life who deeply desire world peace some are affiliated with anti-war organizations or activities some simply read the newspapers and are frightened and appalled by the gt-nocidal militarism thai has become the standard operating procedure of the united states govern ment in this hemisphere and overseas these millions of americans want to lake a stand for non-intervention dis armament and peace but they are in a terrible bind because traditionally when it comes lime to cast their votes for the presidency of the united states they had no choice but to vole for a candidate of one of the two major parties which have demonstrated over and over again a bipartisan commitment to militarism and genocide against people of color around the globe the millions of peace loving people in this country had no way out of this bipartisan trap until now there are millions of americans black latino native-american asian jewish and white who decry racial violence and injustice many have themselves been or have a son or daughter a family member a friend of co-workers who have been the victims of racist abuse from the verbal to the violent millions want to fight back against this outrage but when it comes time to cast their votes for the president of the united states there are only two . choices — a democrat or a republican there has been no national party whose presidential candidate knew intimately last rites held for alonzo b moore jr funeral services for alon/o b moore jr were belli tuesday oct 25th at 1 p.m from the thomas t
