'£ as a mother and a concerned citizen 1 feel deeply for the family of wykisha bolden i cried when i heard i about her tragic dealh 1 cried when i jread.about ii last sunday and i'm still : crying inside and i'm angry now angry because these kinds of things continue to happen angry because i have a young granddaughter who has to grow up in this community who will protect her here can she play safely what will the future tie like for her the violence the crime the drugs that young people have to see daily is frightening they can't be children any more it a child can't play in front of his cr her own home and feel sate where can they go i feel even more upset and frustrated as i write this article because last weekend i was a guest on the itispel community hour and the topic of conversation was education one of ha statements made by a participant on the program was that he felt that many of our school were like a zoo but 1 have to say that the zoo is not in our schools i>ut the zoo is out tin-re in tin streets the dictionary definition of a boo is a place where a collection of wild animals are kept and 1 maintain that the animals are in tin streets the /***> is on the corner of east ferry st and warders the zoo is on east delevan near grider st the mi is on genesee and itissa-11 the zoo is on genesee si . yyhi-n the prostitutes and drugs run rampant every place where drugs crime and violence take place is a zoo it's a jungle out there ami our children are not safe if young wykisha could speak now she would probably say that she went to a beautiful school and had good classmates anil many friends everyone who knew this child spoke well of her she was smart pretty and friendly she did mil deserve to die in such a way our community groups and organi zations should immediately call for stronger laws and penalities far those who continue to kill fur no good reason at all when will the killing stop we can't afford to sit hack and hide our heads in the sand it could be my child next or your child there are too many people walking the streets who commit rimes go to jail come out again shoot somebody kill somebody and then come out again it's a vicious cycle it's like a zoo caged animals are let out to prey upon the innocent and no not one of us is sate anymore wykisha dentse bolden called plum was buried tuesday oct 4th at 1 p.m from calvary
