of my baptist ministers confer ence sons came to see about me all of them who loved me their father were there and sent their prayers up to my father in heaven god heard their prayers and brought me out of the hospital early after my surgery rev l t boyce was the first preacher to visit me and made four additional trips to see me rev bennett w smith was the s md mininster to visit me president blackburn also came out i see me as well as others i want to thank cod for all who came and prayed for me and for the gifts that i received i want to thank the missionaries who brought me the everyone for her kindness — rev henry hall rev henry hall civil unit restored the legal aid bureau of buffalo inc has announ ced that it will once again interview prospective cli ents who are in need of their services for civil matters as a result of a resolution approved by the erie county legislature late last week helen zimmerman act ing executive attorney announced that the resolu tion sponsored by legisla tor roger blackwell per mits the legal aid bureau to once again interview clients on monday wed nesday and friday morn ing from 9 a.m until 12 noon at their offices at 310 convention tower 43 court st buffalo those individuals in need of legal services who meet the guidelines will be taken on first come first served basis on each of those days earlier this year the legal aid bureau was forced to curtail represen tation of the poor in civil matters because of the backlog in criminal appeals because of this backlog the county modi fied its contract with legal aid to prohibit them from using county funds for civil matters however as a result of the blackwell resolution the legal aid bureau will once again be providing such services to the indigent of this commu nity thanks to legislator blackwelts deep commit ment to our organization we will once again be able to serve the poor of this community as we have for over 75 years mrs zimmermann said anniversary was edged out by massachusetts governor mike dukakis rev jackson received more votes than any other second runner-up nominee in the history of the convention sorority to host reception delta sigma theta sor ority inc buffalo alum nae chapter will host a reception to introduce to the community sandra byrd peterson vice presi dent of nursing at buffalo general hospital and dr elizabeth community service award — criterion phot father roderick brown to be central city vicar bishop edward d head d d bishop of the catholic diocese of buf falo has appointed father roderick brown op as vicar for the central city effective august ist in his role as vicar father brown will succeed father w jerome sullivan who will continue to serve as pastor of st mary of sorrows parish in buffalo largely a ministry to and for afro-american catho lics in the diocese of buffalo he will be working in a cooperative way to implement the goals of the national black catholic congress as they have been adapted to the needs of the diocese of buffalo also he will be the bishop's liason to and will be working with the office of black ministry which is in the process of being established father he studied at holy angels grammar school quigley preparatory semi father roderick brown installation services set the members of first shiloh baptist church announces that rev leslie d braxton will be formal ly installed as their per manent pastor on sun july 31 at 6 p.m the nationally known rev floyde bullock will preside over the installa tion ceremony rev bullock is pastor of sunny side baptist church locat ed in los angeles calif rev braxton will be come only the fifth per manent pastor in 80 years at first shiloh at age 26 he is one of buffalo's youngest full-time clergy men first shiloh baptist church 15 pine st is one of the oldest and largest churches in the buffalo area the installation cere mony is open to the entire community rev braxton born in boston mass was bap tized at the age of six at 18 he became a member of the board of trustees at bethlehem baptist church in tacoma washington and at 20 the director of the board of christian ed ucation in 1982 he received his calling to the ministry and later that year was li censed and preached his first sermon in demember 1983 rev braxton received his bachelor of arts degree from the university of puget sound tacoma
