release 1988 part 111 final copyright 1988 by rev calvin l sherrell note as i draw my three part series to a close concerning the announcement of the releasing of my black history publication along with volunteering my personal testimony let me tell you that after being away from your western new york area a decade ago and returning i found a christian love and fellowship towards me too good to believe both from blacks and whites along with many rural news weeklies as i bring the curtain down for now i ask the readers for prayer because i am looking for a miracle in 1988 finally i say once again many thanks praise and goodwill to the buffalo criterion press and its staff members may i say to you live a thousand years amen my one reason for publishing my manuscript is because it is about a struggle that concerns both blacks and whites the cause was freedom there is no other period in america's history as its beginning and that period lasted twenty-nine years 1770-1799 philadelphia is the only city that offers our nation this noble setting and for that reason i made many flights to that city for special research on our beginnings i enjoyed celebrating our nation's 200 th anniversary in philadel phia and was invited back to celebrate with the philadelphians as they rejoiced over their 300 th birthday in 1982 and to dine at the old book binding restaur ant i also enjoyed my first dinner at the old book binding restaurant in may of 1972 with a very famous polish million aire with a host of newspaper and television reporters i was there to lend my support for the polish cause in persuading the u s department of the interior along with the u s senate to make the kosciuszko house a national historical site the polish revolution ary war hero was credited with taking a stand after the revolutionary war m the defense of freeing blacks at this little house where the polish hero slept was named a national historical site in philadelphia a very few know that cal sherrell played a role in that event my name went down in the senate records on that deal brother and i never asked for a dime nor did anybody ever offer me anything yet i survived it all and am yet being blessed by my lord as my publication hits the streets of the cities from the olean jamestown elmira areas hopefully by may 1988 i plan a big exhibit in the buffalo-roches ter areas as many of you read this last install ment of my three part series copies are already in the hands of the u s postal service board of governors the u s department of the interior and even our nation's president finally many thanks to the buffalo criterion for their assistance in the layout and design for my publication and to the group of historians of springville n v for their helpful suggestions and research thanks also goes to a business concern of springville for assistance in helping me to take a financial short-cut in publishing my work may god bless you all and i hope to have been an inspiration to all history-loving ameri cans rev calvin l sherrell see page 3 see page 5 see page 7 sheehan — see page 3
