inc proudly showed mr dormer a road widener one of the pieces of equipment purchased in part with the proceeds of the loan assisting small business entre preneurs like mcl bradwell and companies like kyrson inc in participating fully in the economy of the state is a key element in governor cuomo's economic development growth and revitalization program said mr dormer kyrson inc a paving subcontractor located in schenectady is a minority business enterprise certified by the new york state department of transporta tion and new york state thruway authority this loan enabled the company to purchase several large pieces of equipment needed to enlarge their operation including a road widener paver low-boy trailer to move equipment and a tractor kyrson inc now in its second yea of operation presently employs 11 full time workers and plans the addition of 18 more within two years ten of these will be hired this year and will comprise the company's second crew jda provides low-cost loans to aid business and industrial development and improve employment opportunities throughtout new york state loans may cover up to 48 percent of project costs for construction acquisition rehabilitation or improvement of manufacturing plants or other eligible businesses and for machinery and equipment kyrson inc also received assistance from jda in obtaining the bonding required of all firms with state construction contracts jda administers the bonding assistance program bax which was created to assist minority and small businesses in participating fully in the economic activity of the state under the bax program jda will provide bonding assistance to small and/or minority contracts and subcontractors seeking to obtain construction contracts than 500,000 awarded by a state committee approval of 23 million rep henry j nowak d-buffalo thursday said that the house committee on public works and transportation on which he serves has authorized more than 23 million in new federal spending on four western new york highway projects included at nowak's request in an omnibus five-year reauthorization of the nation's highway and transit aid programs were 12.5 million for up all weather route into downtown buffalo for residential and commercial traffic from south buffalo and south ern tier towns nowak also worked to obtain public works com mittee approval of a provision in the omnibus bill that would enable new york state to transfer 95 million from its interstate highway construction . account to its primary road system apportionment the 95 million was a credit the state had received resulting from the cancellation of the westway highway project in new york city the congressman ex plained this transfer provision is important because the state's pri mary road development and improvement needs are extensive when enacted this provision will enable us to advance a number of primary road projects in western new york whitney houston honored by national council
