support from black voters and is regarded as one of the rapidly rising figures in his party has accepted an invitation to address the 1986 annual conference of the national urban league on the subject reconnecting youth to school and work the conference will be held in san francisco july 20-23 at the moscone center and governor kean will speak on tues july 22 at 9 a.m he joins a roster of distinguished speakers from govern ment industry the private sector and other areas who will address the various penary sessions forums and special programs that together make the nul's national conference the nation's foremost forum on race relations the theme of this year's conference working together to make a difference reflects the nul's approach that progress is achieving equity in bur wharton jr chancellor of the state university of new york system will deliver a major address on monday afternoon july 21st on public education and black americans today's crisis tomor row's disaster several special programs in the church during this long span and was very faithful if allowed the adequate space to detail her church social and lodge activities in this article the life of mrs carrie ann caston would read like a biogra phy of susan b anthony sojourner truth and car rie north all rolled into one few local women are as active in the whole realm of community activities as mrs caston her field of community service she told the criterion increas es with her adaptability to render service on an increasing front she was born in mccormick county south carolina that part of the county in which she was born was later redistrict ed and named abbeville county the daughter of well-sit uated parents she was sent through the public schools of her vicinity and won honors as a promising student in the midst of what promised to be a college career for her then youthful carrie married and soon after with her husband came north with their daughter less than a year old that was in 1923
