Gold Comes Home From Eastern Oireachtus—World’s Coming
Rince na Tiama School Irish Dance took Eight First Place Trophies at the
Oireachtus held in Philadelphia over the Thanksgiving weekend. This event is the annual qualifier for the World Championship of Irish Dance to be held in Killarney, Ireland over Easter. The event featured over 2,000 dancers from York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The school won gold in the

Taking the Gold in Solo Competition was Kevinah Dargan who won the under Eight Competition. Kevinah is the granddaughter of Aby and Ann Marks.

Cathy McCann To Receive LAOH Award
Catherine McCann will be honored as the recipient of the Hibernian Award of the Year. This prestigious award is given by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians to an individual who represents the true qualities of the organization.
From the time Cathy joined the LAOH, she became an officer. She held a variety of offices including president of the organization in 1998 and 1999.
During this time, she became ill and with this adversity, she continued her work and deep concern for the group. She managed to make sure everything Was progressing satisfactorily. She excelled with true leadership qualities. Her miraculous recovery was a sign of her deep faith.
Cathy, a native of Scotland is married to native South Buffalonian Patrick McCann. Pat and Cathy have two children, Colleen, who resides in California and Kevin who lives in Buffalo.
Cathy is a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She is also a member of the Daughters of Erin and the GAAA.
Cathy, a master of the culinary arts is especially famous for her wonderful desserts, her brown bread, soda bread and scones.
Cathy is truly very deserving of this award.
