December temperature to be an average of 28.5 degrees, 2 degrees above normal. Precipitation 2 inches below average. Hearings Monday At Town Hall A PUBLIC hearing at 8 P.M. Monday, December 4 in the town hall may be the basis on which town officials will decide whether to amend a Sewer Rents Law applying to all town sewer districts and establishing a scale of charges based on in and out of district uses for water consumption. A second hearing will consider a law regulating use, construction and enlargement of docks and boating facilities in residential areas. Included are such facilities as boat houses and docks, hoists, piers, ramps, vessels and wharves. The legislation would repeal present local restrictions on boating facilities in Chapter 49 of the Town Code. It presently bars three or more boats at any dock and prohibits living or overnight sleepingsleeping in boats or boating facilities. The proposed new law is further outlined in the Legal Notice at the bottom of page 21 in the November 24 issue of the Island Dispatch. A third hearing will also allow public input in the town board proposal to amend a local law to eliminate the unsalaried position of Commissioner of Safety, created at the time 911 became part of the Grand Island Fire Company's dispatching system. Following the hearings, the board may take action on any or all of the proposals or it may refer them to the planning board for study and recommendation and then vote on decisions at its December 17 meeting. MEK Town To Appeal Tourist Center Decision THE TOWN board has authorized the town attorney to file an appeal to the Appelate Division, fourth Judicial Department from Justice Forma's decision and order concerning the operation of the tourist information stand at 1661 Grand Island Blvd. Judge Forma recently ruled in favor of Boulevard, Inc., dismissing the town's claim that the center was operating without a permit, site plan approval and certificate of occupancy. The town information was first filed July 30, 1988. The center across from the state controlled facility in the Burger King Restaurant continued to operate during the tourist season in 1988 and 1989. MEK Islanders Urged To Attend Pipeline Hearing ERIE COUNTY Legislator Charles M. Swanick urges Grand Island residents to mark their 1990 calendars for an important public hearing concerning the proposed route of the Empire State Pipeline scheduled for 7 P.M. January 10, at Wheatfield Town Hall. Administrative Judge W.T.
