Isle Chamber Names Citizens Of Year Slate THE CHAMBER of Com merce has chosen a long list of Grand Islanders to honor at its 20th Annual Citizens of the Year dinner March 15 in the Buffalo Launch Club. Announced this week by nominating committee chairman Floyd Doring were 11 names including an organization and two of the town's outstanding youths. To be cited are: Paul Klock, service to youth; Elizabeth Reimann, education; John Gast, Jr, business; Fay Rech, community service; Michael Cavanagh, civic; Richard Morri3, economic development; Clifford Scott, athletics; Jamie Eichel, outstanding youth; Betty Trianda, special service; Jake Wohlfhert, senior citizen and Grand Island Builders Association, organization. MEK Town Increases GIEDC Funding THE TOWN board Monday agreed 4-1 to restore $5000 of funding for the Grand Island Economic Development Corporation, bringing $10,000 the amount the company will receive in town money in 1990. Previously the board November 20, in a 3-2 vote, decreased the funding to $5000. Councilwoman Marion L. Fabiano, who cast the dissenting vote Monday, was skeptical about the tax base figures released by GIEDC President Richard Morris. She questioned if they were "inflated" and asked later how much of the industry which Morris claimed was obtained through GIEDC effort, including a projected $12,600 for 1990. "I am not against light industry," she said, but how much of the money quoted is "tax exempt." "There are other unanswered questions." she claimed, referring to the use of town funding.
