With The GRAND ISLAND NEWS 35c GRAND ISLAND, NY 14072 • 773-7676 24 PAGES VOL. 46 NO. 2 • Mar. 24, 1989 Proposed Boat Docking Law Will Require Hearing A PROPOSED town law to control the location and construction of docks and boat houses must be reviewed at a public hearing before the town board can decide whether or not to approve it. A group of East River Road property owners at Mon- day's town board meeting re- quested information on the proposed ordinance. As noted in last week's Island Dispatch, the law, if approved, would limit docks and Ice Is Both Beauty & The Beast See pages 3 & 16 Hearings To Review Town Tax Exemptions GRAND Island senior citizens over 65 may be in for an increase in town tax exemption if the town board approves changing the current income ceiling after a public hearing April 3 in the town hall. The hearing will consider changing the present maximum amount of annual income from $10,500 to $12,025. Assessor James Milne, at a recent meeting of the town and school board, said the proposed increase would have a minor impact on revenues. Milne also recommended the school district consider having the proposal apply to school taxes for senior citizens with limited incomes. Another public hearing April 3 will air the proposed construction of a sewage pumping station on Ransom Road at a cost of $135,400. Final approval of plans for town house construction on East River Road in River Oaks will also be considered by the board at a public hearing April 3. Baeder-Neruda are the developers. Archaeological diggings, started last August, are still continuing in part of the River Oaks complex. Cost of the state-mandated conservation project must be met by the land holders.
