Swan said Tuesday. The changes are in line with those discussed at a recent meeting with Horizon Commission members Wayne Howard and Thomas Blanchard, he said. Revisions requested include the addition of a bikehikebikehike trail. A statement indicating planned projects would be scaled to fit the character of existing neighborhoods and infrastructure capacities, and also expansion of a paragraph to include development of a town park at the southeast corner of East River and Cox Roads. Swan said the board is also objecting to the development of a potential marina site at the west end of Staley Road 'to serve existing commercial development of the area," pointing out that it is zoned residential and such use would be inconsistent with current zoning, Swan said. The resolution will further note that the town's local waterfront revitalization plan draft "has been prepared and refined (so) that the Action Plan and LWRP are coordinated "and that the state Department of State has "confirmed the consistency of these documents." MEK Commerce Center Opposed At Hearing GREATLY increased traffic, an overloaded sewer plant, road damage, loss of wildlife and loss of surburban living are just a few of the problems that could result if the current plan for the Grand Island Commerce Center is allowed to be carried out here, opponents claimed Tuesday evening at a hearing in the town hall. For more than an hour and a half, Island residents against the $130 million project, proposed by Acquest Properties, Inc. called upon the town board to disapprove the master plan to develop the complex on 145 acres of industrial zoned land abutting Long and Bedell roads. Although there were proponents in the audience of about 40 people, including Chamber of Commerce and Grand Island Industrial Development Corp. representatives, only one person spoke in favor of the project. In some instances, speakers read lengthy prepared Grand Island's Recreation Celebration Is Tomorrow The Grand Island Recreation Dept, in conjunction with the Grand Island Builders Association, will sponsor a Recreation Celebration featuring World Class Games tomorrow in the town's center from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. An antique and classic car show from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. highlighted by the Fire Co.'s antique pumper, concerts by the Tonawanda Clown Band (noon to 1:30 P.M.) and Buffalo Zoo Revue (2-4 P.M.), plus organized games and activities for children (11 A.M.-2 P.M.) will coincide with the first full day of the Builders Association's '91 Show of Homes featuring World Class Homes in Woodstream Meadows subdivision. Buses will shuttle folks between the two events all day long.
