The well organized, smoothly run forum paired each party's candidate in a two-minute statement, a round of questions geared to the office being sought and a twominute summary, all carefully more than 50 was on hand as the candidates for receiver of taxes, Marlene McCarthy and Helen Staley, began the program, followed by Andrea Moreau and Nancy Samrany, candidates for town clerk. Frank Kedzielawa and Francis Pritchard, town justice candidates, were relaxed and in good humor as they replied to questions regarding qualifications and ways of reducing case loads. While incumbent Pritchard felt that additional sessions were not needed at present, Kedzielawa indicated that an additional night a month might be helpful. Both agreed it would be difficult for two judges to run court on the same night due to space and staff constraints. The evening's highlight was a panel involving all six candidates for governing offices: James Pax and Linda Vullo, supervisor; Mary Cooke, Marion Fabiano, Gail Lazenby and Robert Swan, town council. Pointed questions formulated by the Gl Business West River Homeowners Recommend Law Change THERE MAY be some changes in the proposed amendment of Local Law #7 if the town board agrees with a recommendaton of the West River Homeowners Association.The law pertains to setback of homes built along the river. Aired at a public hearing September 16, the proposed change would be in a section of Chapter 49 of the ordinance which notes: "Structures located on a riverfront lot shall not be closer to the river shoreline than the average distance of other structures on either side of the lot in question."Now being reviewed by the board, the amendment would apply to "structures located between the river bank and East River, West Oakfield and Oak Harbor roads. According to the Buffalo News football poll Wednesday, Grand Island is ranked No. 1 in its Division and has gotten off to a great start with big wins over LaSalle and Tonawanda, and should be back at Rich Stadium this year for playoff action.
