Swanick and Grand Island Supervisor James 11. "We are still very much opposed to the process and are dealing with Ihe Army Corps in selling the record Straight on the pipeline," he added. Lare Canadian Bridge To Grand Island On Hold CANADIAN investors interested in financing construction of a private 101 l bridge between Fort Erie and the Island apparently are taking a second look al the proposal. Gen. Richard Rohner who heads die Niagara New Bridge Corp., has informed Legislator Charles M. Swanick "Given the stale of the recession, it has been deemed appropriate to hold the matter in abeyance." In his reply to Swanick's request for current information on the project, (tanner also advised, "As I have made it clear from die outset, Ihe new bridge concept is no more or less than a concept." "In the event dial a feasibility study is in fact embarked upon, I would advise you that it has been staried, and when finished I will provide you with its result immediately," he told Swanick. "When first announced, there was total opposition from the town, the Chamber of Commerce and a citizens committee headed by John Pax," Swanick said Wednesday. "I think they got the message from that. They knew the community would fight the proposal as hard as we did the pipeline." The Town Board December 4, IWI went on record in opposition to die span. MLX Recreation Group Reviews Master Plan TDK PROPOSED Recreation Master Plan, nearing completion by Kolz & Associates, was reviewed Wednesday evening by the committee in charge. The group will also be a part of a Master Plan meeting July 23 when town committees involved will discuss both plans. Ihe recreation plan is scheduled to be unveiled August 10 al 8 P.M. when "public input will be welcome," it was reported at die July 6 meeting of the Town Board. A public information meeting August 13 will allow comments and suggestions from residents and may be incorporated into die plan if feasible. MHK
