Pax said following his meeting Tuesday with the Governor at the Voice of the People Forum in Cheektowaga. "Realizing that the office of the Attorney General will be defending the Seneca Indian Nation's claim, I asked that be advise me of the time frame and othei information pertaining to resolving the matter," Pax said. Claiming that if the action went to court, it would take about ten years to settle it, Cuomo commented, "I don't know if the Indian Nation would want to wait that long for settlement." Cuomo, speaking before about 200 Cheektowaga residents and facing cameras from all major TV stations, said, "Certainly nobody should worry about losing their property. They will not lose it. The State and federal government will get together some money or some land. 'I hat's the way they tackle these things." "Grand Island should be held harmless and it should not cost you a penny," the Governor further said in addressing Pax's concerns.
