Playing on the wooden gym during the Open House were Maverick Swanick, whose father. Legislator Charles Swanick, was making an appearance, and Samantba Miller, who was observed by her mother Shcrrie. Samantha will-be at Sidway in the fall. Photo by Mary Stewart Master Plan Adoption Near: Town Board Lead Agency THE proposed comprehensive master plan, in the process of being formulated for the past four years, is on its way to being approved. The Town Board Tuesday agreed with a recommendation made by Councilman James R. Sharpe to employ Saratoga Associates at a cost of $18,460 to provide services deemed necessary prior to its adoption. Officials also approved Sharpe's request that the Town Board be tbe lead agency for adoption proceedings. The Planning Board, in a 3-2 vote in December, had been designated by the Town Board to serve in that capacity. Public hearings Feb. 7 will consider approving a special use permit to allow agricultural use of 45 Edgcwater Aye. and use of a Community Block Grant to construct a sidewalk in the vicinity of the senior citizen apartment complex on Baseline Road and additional parking space at the Golden Age Center The board tabled for further discussion the appointment of a dog control officer, creation of a deputy officer position and the appointments of deputy and substitute dog control officers The board in other business noted applications have been received from Frank R. Greco for a Planning Board position and from Gary C. Tollner for a vacancy on the Traffic Safety Advisory Board. It also tabled advertising for a part-time Help Center counselor. recommended by Councilwoman Mary S. Cooke, pending research of criteria needed to fill tbe position. The board also noted the Planning Board has tabled for further discussion site plan approval for an addition to Whitehaven Baptist Church, site plan revision for the KOA campsite and preliminary approval of Niagara River Estates subdivision pending results of a SFQA Review meeting. An LRRP grant, if approved, may be used to further reduce the town's cost for solid waste collection. The board agreed to consider Councilwoman Marion P. Fabiano's request that the funding, if granted, be used to purchase backyard compost bins which could then be sold to interested residents at a reduced cost. Recommended by the planners and approved by the town board was an exception to subdivision regulations for a lot on Love Road at Alt Boulevard. Denied was a request for a similar exception for lot #13 on Ferry Road. In line with a recommendation of the Traffic Safety Advisory Board, Supervisor James H. Pax is to inform the Thruway Authority and the State Bridge Commission that the Town Board favors the continued use of commuter toll books on Island bridges. A copy of the resolution is also to be sent to the Citizens Against F-ZPass Committee. MFK Islanders To Vote For State Senator VOTING booths will be open in all town polling places Tuesday, February 15. Balloting here and throughout the 57th State Senatorial District will decide who is to replace Anthony Masicllo who relinquished a senatorial seat when he became mayor of the City of Buffalo. Town Clerk Nancy Samrany, in a cost saving effort, has arranged to have all polls open to avoid confusion but, she advised, only one voting machine will be assigned to each location with the exception of Kaegebein School. Two will be in operation there, she said, noting it serves a densely populated area The Frie County Conservative Party Monday endorsed Jeffrey C. O'Bannon to run against Democrat Anthony R. Nanula for the seat. Unconfirmed is a report that Diane Henderson will be the Republican party's choice. MFK
