Joan modeled a Tea Dress, Maggie a Day Dress and Kristy wore an Evening Flapper-style dress. Gushue is chairwoman of costumes for the society and is but one of many individuals involved with preserving the historic artifacts of the local area. The Society meets regularly and has a monthly open house event at River Lea every second Sunday of the month. The next meeting of the Society is 7:30 P.M., Nov. 3 with a slide presentation on the Pan American Exposition by Doris Ursitte, assistant curator of the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site. The very popular Christmas Luncheons are already sold out, Society President Rose Ried regrettably reported, but attendance is sought for the Open House events Dec. 4 and 11, from 1-4 P.M. featuring Christmas Ball at River Lea, and entertainment by Grand Island Schools Music Department. Workshops for the Christmas Boutique have been in session Wednesday mornings at River Lea with members preparing gift items for sale. Historians are also collecting Tops tapes for "tushes," the pet project of the president who feels that new chairs are a must for the comfort of the members and visitors to the programs at River Lea.
