(See related story and photo, page 3.) Host families needed for Italian students A GROUP OF students from Italy will be visiting the Niagara Falls area for 4 weeks, from July 25 through August 19. Host families are needed to welcome these young people. As a host family for EF Education, your family will be entitled to many exciting opportunities and invited to join the Italian students on field trips. The students will be busy Monday through Friday with English classes in the mornings and field trips in the afternoons. All students are fully insured and come with their own spending money. High in the upper- Schopp, McCowan re-elected by Lee Cohen JERI SCHOPP AND Dr. Richard McCowan will continue for a second year as school board president and vice president. Both were unanimously re-elected at the board's re-organization meeting Monday night. Oaths of office were also administered to re-elected trustees Sue Gill and Michael Dlugosz, and to Nancy Sandford, Blaise Nicola and Jeanne McMahon (senior account clerk), respectively reappointed district clerk, district treasurer and alternate treasurer. Gill was elected delegate to both the Erie County School Boards Delegate Assembly and to the NYS School Boards annual meeting, with McCowan and Schopp as respective alternates. Schopp was also named representative to the Erie County School Boards legislative committee. Appointed school attorneys were the firm of Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods & Goodyear; the law office of Bouvier, O'Connor, with Chris G. Trapp as designated school attorney; and John Del Monte, attorney at law. Eugene D. Mahaney, CPA, district auditor, and Health Care Plan, health service provider, will both continue for the coming year. The Buffalo News and the Island Dispatch were named official newspapers; all board policies were approved, and a mileage reimbursement rate of 28 cents/mile was established, investor of district funds, as Petty cash funds of $100 each were approved for each school, the district office, and the transportation, continuing education and buildings and grounds departments, with $200 allocated for interscholastic athletics. The board approved the superintendent to borrow maximum amounts allowed on revenue notes and tax anticipation notes in expectation of revenue from real estate taxes and state aid. The following authorizations were made: chief school officer to certify payroll; approve attendance at conferences, conventions, workshops, etc., within the scope of program budgets; approve budget transfers; be Title IX coordinator; be sexual harassment complaint officer, okay signatures for vehicle registrations; designate a records retention and disposition officer; be civil service appointing officer; be alternate purchasing agenL Also Larry Schaller, assistant to the superintendent for business & finance as purchasing agent, as signatory on transfers from savings to checking accounts (with Jeanne McMahon as alternate) and for vehicle registrations. Also authorized: . Assistant Superintendent Priscilla Michaud, Title I coordinator; Charles Lehman, director of Pupil Personnel Services, Chapter 504 coordinator, Dorm Perry, supervisor of buildings & grounds, as safety risk management officer. Bank designations are as follows: Chase, Citißank New York State, Key Bank of N.Y., Manufacturers Hanover Trust, M&T Trust, Marine Midland, Fleet, First Federal. Official depositories are M&T: checking accounts for general fund, school lunch fund, trust & agency fund, capital fund, payroll; savings account for general fund; Marine Midland: federal aid, extra-classroom activity funds for high school and middle school; and Key Bank for the capital fund. Facsimile signatures of the treasurer and alternate treasurer were approved for use for all bank accounts. Love and Long Road repair Erie County Legislator Charles Swanick would like to inform area residents that repairs will be done to portions of Love and Long Roads within the next few weeks. Sections of Love Road require shoulder work and spot paving at intermittent locations from West River Road to Baseline Road. Spot checks will be done on Long Road where some problems exist.
