Checkout the first installment in our new comic strip, compliments of Features artist Phil Bowman. The Undergraduate Student Association (USA) met last Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge to further the process of allocating budget money to student clubs. to add $100 to its budget. Other groups whose budget reviews were postponed included Psi Chi (the Psychology Club) and Canisius radio station WCCG, whose requests for certain additional funds were under debate. Another issue which came to the forefront was the temporary freezing of the Campus Programming Board's (CPB's) budget, an issue that also is to be discussed by the Senate at future meetings. Other plans include designs to "reconstruct Bagen Hall into a one-stop service for students' convenience," according to the head of the presentation group, Dr. Walter Sharrow, professor of History. Prior to the meeting, architects presented ideas and plans to USA regarding the many proposed renovations to be made to Old Main and the 1908 Building. USA continues with budget allocation; Old Main and Bagen Hall slated for future reconstruction national Management Council (IMC) went before the senate to request additional club funding. TheMathTeam, represented by Sean Simpson, was allocated an additional $120 for a trip to a Hudson Valley math conference, while the Rifle Club was given $50 more to help cover range fees. IMC, however, failed in its effort During the four-hour meeting, numerous budgets were passed and a few, including The Griffin and Azuwur, were sent back to committee for review. It is also important that the office is accessible to everyone, and that there is an open and welcoming atmosphere. Galligan also stressed the informality of the office. "We want people to feel comfortable with us, because part of our job is to make them feel comfortable with themselves." Galligan is proud of the fact that the office has such a positive atmosphere. "We have a real community among us, and it reflects upon the campus as a whole. We do great ministry for the college, and in return, they work with us to make our projects a success."
