              by Molly McCarthy An informational survey, which would be completed by faculty members to enable students to view a more comprehensive description of course offerings, will be instituted in the 1988 Spring semester. The Undergraduate Student Association (USA) attempted last semester to implement a survey that would be completed by students to indicate The survey is not evaluative. In other words, it does not rate the quality of the course. The results of the questionnaire would be distributed to several locations on campus and might be accessible to students on computer. This alteration highlights the fact that this survey is not a contract which the Faculty is obligated to fulfill. Each faculty member may choose whether or not to complete the information for the benefit of the student body. The Faculty Senate negotiated with student senators through the Faculty-Student Liaison Committee and agreed to institute a purely informational survey, which the faculty could complete voluntarily. The survey, which will be published next semester, includes the name of the course, the instructor's name, the the quality of the course on the basis of that student's opinion. Before unanimously passing a resolution that would implement the survey in the Spring, The Faculty Senate did not approve the survey until certain wording in the questionnaire was changed. The USA approved the survey on Tuesday, Sept. 22. teaching style (lecture, seminar, demonstration, etc.), the type of homework assignments and number of exams. '87-88 Snow Removal Strategies Account for New Parking Areas (cont'd on page 4) However, Sears is equipped with a snow melter. "There is a problem with plowing Sears. The plow cannot be put down too low because of the expansion joints on the third floor/' he said. Regarding specific plans for clearing each of the three new lots, Lowman anticipates the most difficulty clearing the third floor of the Sears ramp A 1988 4 x 4 was also just purchased. In addition, Hondas and Toros are used to clear doorways and a back-up snowline vehicle for sidewalk snow removal. According to Lowman, Canisius owns a 1985 4 x4 truck with a plow, two diesel tractors, another diesel for sidewalks, and a salt spreader. As far as snow removal equipment, the school seems ready. In addition to plowing the Main-Eastwood lot, Loring lot, Old Main lot, the resident lots, the Koessler Athletic Center lots and the Health Science lots, the maintenance crew will be plowing the new lot at Florida and Jefferson, the parking lot at Mount St. Joe's and the third level of the old Sears parking ramp when the snow starts piling up. Carroll and Lynch ran into Frisch Residence Hall and turned around to see the man "watching to make sure we had gone in." They promptly called the Buffalo Police Department and began filling out a robbery report at Public Safety. The two students were then ordered by the robber to run down the street without turning around. When the man asked Lynch to give him all her money, she responded that she only had a dollar, but he insisted that she throw it on the ground anyway. there was, Carroll stated that the man said "Give me it all." According to statements made to the police, Kathleen Lynch '88 and John Carroll '87 were geting out of a car at the corner of Hughes and Meech in front of Frisch Residence Hall when a "white male wearing a brown coat and a scarf and alligator or snake skin boots and jeans" approached them. A suspect in the Nov. 22 armed robbery of two Canisius students was scheduled to appear at a hearing in Buffalo City Court yesterday regarding charges of first degree robbery and criminal use of a firearm in the second degree. Manual Safron III, 32, of Hialeah, Fla., was arrested by Buffalo City Police officers about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, on the corner of Mohican Street and Humboldt Parkway approximately a half hour after the robbery. by Molly McCarthy New Survey Will Provide Course Descriptions for Fall '88 Photo by BETH ORLOW5KI Officials at Blue Cross of Western New York, Inc., are not sure when they will move into the renovated Sears building.
