The Canisius College Academia opened its activities for the current year with a meeting on Tuesday, Oct¬ ober 10. All members of the Fresh¬ man debating society, in good stand¬ ing a: the close of last year, were admitted as members of the Aca¬ demia. Mr. McGovern. S.I., who v- succeeds Mr. Keegan, S.J., as moder-/ aior of the society, announced thai';a schedule of intercollegiate debates will be arranged as in the past. In addition to these inter-collegiate de¬ bates, the society will conduct a ser¬ ies of debates and lectures in the various parishes of the diocese. The principal question in this series of dis¬ cussions will be the Holy Father's encyclical on the duties of working men and their employer*, and its re¬ lation to President Roosevelt's Na¬ tional Recovery Administration. The "regular weekly meetings will be held on Tuesday evenings.
An organization meeting of the freshman debating society was held Monday evening, October 9. Mr. Edward Barrett, in a short address,

The Griffin that fed so plentifully upon the Albion gridders partook of another hearty repast at the expense of University of Baltimore two weeks ago. The Canisius football Sajuad. >o listless East year, has finally awakened under the spirited prodding of Coach "Hiker" Joy to down their 1^*2 con¬ querors by the lopsided score o: 34-0.
The Blue and Gold team playing besore Hindi of about 2500 started brilliantly by tallying two touch¬ downs in their first seven plays. A Baltimore punt blocked by Jim Bar¬ rett wis recovered by Fricke for the first score.
Johnny Rybak's spiralling punts
and advantages for the student inter¬ ested in public speaking. The officers for the first semester will be elected within the next few weeks.
The Canisius College Quarterly, though handicapped by the loss through graduation of Charles Brady, will again rank high among collegiate publications. Mr. Barrett, S.J., Moderator, assembled the stafi in the Sodality office on September 27 and outlined the work for the year. John Leonard will succeed Charles Brady as editor-in-chief.
The Glee Club began its regular vveekiv meetings on Thursday, Oct-
