Room draw selections will be held Tuesday, April 15 through Friday, April 18 for the different living arrangements. Room rates for the 1997-98 academic year are not available at this time and will be announced as soon as they are available. Direct further questions to the Office of Residence Life at x2220. Hauptmann, the 1985 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, treated students and professors alike to a discussion of Rene Descartes' impact on math- structure of biological molecules, better drugs can be designed to treat diseases that harm the structure.Hauptmann later showed how the concepts of Descartes could be used to determine the molecular structure of crystals. Hauptmann took what Descartes did with a point and applied it to a crystalline structure, in an attempt to ascertain the structure of the crystal. By better understanding the life fied. Descartes further extended this idea to describe the circle, ellipse, parabola and hyperbola. From these simple concepts, the studies of analytical geometry and calculus were born.
