The audience was treated to musical performances put on by Cunisius faculty and students. In excess of $700 was raised to help the center, which assists refugees applying for political asylum in Canada. After an opening song performed by the Canisius College Gospel Ensemble, Hamlin Park Community and Taxpayer's Association, Inc. The money will also provide the funds to upgrade the Food Bank's current computer system as well as to expand the docking bays where organizations pick up their food. The expansion of the loading area would allow food to be loaded into vehicles inside. Currently, pickups are loaded into vehicles outside of the building and becomes very difficult when there is inclement weather. This year's Capital Campaign is being led by co-chairpersons Laura A. Zaepfel, Manager of Corporate Communications for Uniland Development Company, and Drew J. Cerza, President of the RMI Group, Inc. WNY food bank begins capital campaign until the end of the year, hopes to raise the million dollars needed in order to perform some necessary layout changes in the two buildings which the Food Bank currently occupies.These changes would allow the Food Bank to become more efficient in its distribution of food to neighborhood pantries and other organizations. According to Bud Coleman of the Food Bank, the changes will include expanding the main Food Bank building in order to move all of its offices into one building.
