This week, the City of Buffalo Police Department released a report detailing the current investigation of a series of sexual assaults which are believed to be possibly linked. According to Lt. Duane Rizzo of the Buffalo Police Department, crime analysts recently discovered trends among the six assaults. However, the department officials stress that they are not absolutely positive that all these crimes have been committed by the same person."Although we've not yet developed definitive evidence to link these crimes, we haVe a concern that the same perpetrator may be involved with some or all of the attacks," said Lt. David Mann of the Sex Offense Section. "We want the citizens to be informed of this possibility and exercise appropriate caution." The Police Department suspects that the crimes may be related because they occurred in similar locations and a similar style of attack was The most recent attack, which took place on Tuesday, Mar. 16, involved a woman being assaulted at 679 Linwood Ave. near Gates Circle. Although no composite sketch has yet been produced, the Police Department has released a description of the possible suspect. He is reported as a black male, twenties to early thirties in age, 5'5" to 5'9" in height, with a dark complexion and a medium to heavy build. According to Rizzo, numerous tips have already been received and detec- See Rape page 3 On Friday, Mar. 12, another woman was assaulted at 4p.m. at 1461 Main St. The following Friday, a women was attacked at the corner of Main and Minnesota Streets (in the University Heights area) at approximately 3:30 a.m. used. All six assaults occurred in the northeast section of the City. In three instances, the victims were pushed into nearby bushes before being assaulted. In two other cases, the victims were threatened with a knife. The two earliest attacks, which took place in July and November of last year, occurred near the corner of Grider Street and E. Delevan Avenue and at 1534 Main St. respectively.The remaining four incidents have taken place in the last four weeks beginning on Friday, Feb. 26. at 4 a.m. when a woman was attacked near the corner of Grider Street and East Delevan Avenue. Also, the AAUA publishes a periodic newsletter has a web page to educate its members, and offers a consultation service.The AAUA is composed of a broad array of administrators, mostly of the slightly higher levels of professional administration, including deans, vice presidents, and presidents of academic institutions. Dr. Jerome L. Neuner, vice president of Academic Affairs at Canisius, has recently been elected to the office of president of the American Association of University Administrators (AAUA). The AAUA is a voluntary organization of nine hundred college and university administrators around the country, devoted to promoting the ethical conduct of administrators. Burich, professor of History at Canisius has been appointed to the position of dean of the School of Education and Human Services. Taking office sometime near the end of the spring semester, Burich will be entering a position that has been, vacant since the departure of Dr. Katherine E. Keough, who left to become the president of St. John Fisher College three years ago. In the interim, Dr. James M McDonnell has been serving as acting dean. The dean of the School of Education and Human Services has a wide range of responsibilities, which includes overseeing four academic departments: deaf educa- tion, counselor education, physical education, and teacher education.Also among Burich's new duties will be establishing a clear vision for the future of teacher education and the School of Education and Human Services. McDonnell will assume the role of associate dean in the School. The search for the new dean was conducted by a committee chaired by Dr. Jerome L. Neuner, associate vice president for Academic Affairs. This committee recently narrowed the candidates down to a group of four before choosing Burich as the new dean. Dr. Herbert J.
