which direction the majority of stu¬ dent opinion favors.
Although the poll is more in the character of a straw-vote than a ref¬ erendum, it will show just what the majority wants. Many contradlaory and contrary views have been held and argued by the students for the last sexeral years at Canisius as to what place football should hold in college athletics. The GrifSn at¬ tempted to determirvt the most de¬ sirable stand by means of its ovvti poll but found that the importaiKe of the question warranted its handling by the Student CourKil.
Since the question is debatable of its very ruiure the discussion in the .Assembly will be ntore in the charac¬ ter of a debate with direct speeches only. The student body will be the judges who will pass on the merits of each side taking their pergonal senti¬ ments into consideration.
