ralph courter the legislature albany february 15 senate bills were passed to facilitate the payment of taxes by railroad companies amending the act to form societies to prevent horse stealing relative to employers and employes confirming the action of the buffalo common council relative to the insane asylum the senate agreed to go into executive session at one o'clock mr creamer moved to discharge the ju diciary committee from the further cons ration of the bill repealing the act allow ing the excise moneys to be appropriated t sectarian schools and the rame be referred to the committee on municipal affairs mr chapman moved that the committee on charitable and religious societies be discharged from the further consideration of petitions ou tho subject and that t same be referred to the judiciary commit tee agreed to—l 4 to t the qaestio'i was then on mr creamer's motion to refer the bill to the committee on municipal affairs the senate without disposing of the question went into executive session on reopening the doors on motion of mr tweed both the bill and petitions relative to the appropriation of excise moneys to sectarian schools were referred to the com mittee on municipal affairs adjourned assembly a great number of bills relating to this city and brooklyn were introduced one by mr blair amending the act for the further protection of female employes in the city of ew york bills were passed : amending the charter of the village of dunkirk amending revised statutes relative to supervisors preparing lists for grand juror excepting in n»w york and kings counties mr flagg moved that the bill placing special sessions court in new york be committed to the committee on cities mr mitchell enqnircd at whose request the motion was made mr burns stated that he had been re quested by several parties in new york to be heard on this bill mr mitchell stated that the gentleman who introduced this bill was absent and that he mitchell had intended to more to f lay the bill aside when it came up for a third reading he then proceeded to de j nounee the court as at present organized i and claimed that the bill was a proper one i mr husted opposed the motion to re commit there has been no undue kaate in this matter the bill has been fully dis cussed in the committee of the whole | and has been ordered to a third reading , mr white insisted that there were good reasons why the bill should be recom mitted the speaker called attention to the fact that he found by the dumber of this bill that it had by boqd manipulation been made to take precedence over forty-nine other bills ahead of it mr field moved the previous question on mr flag's motion which was ordered mr kiernan before voting stated that this bill had been reported under an agree ment upon toghe the appointing power to the judges of the superior court or court of common pleas mr hasted said it did him good to hear these confessions of great frauds in new york by both wings of the democratic party but as to the bill he didn't see any thing in it designed to benefit the republi can p*rty in the l*»*et mr bergen spoke at length denouncing the corruptioes in new york and attribut
