senate at the breaking out of the war to take part in the rebellion messrs howard sumner and yates op posed thaadmission to the amnesty of every man who had formerly held ohice under the government and left to join the rebellion the name was finally withdrawn and the bill was passed on motion of mr anthony rep r i a resolution was adopted calling on the president for any information in his possession relating to the emancipation of the slaves in cuba and for any correspon dence not heretofore communicated con cerning questions between the l'nited states and great britain the georgia bill was taken up with a view of cutting off the debate the scuato adopted a motion to non-concur id the house amendment to the bill as passed by the senate and to appoint a committee of conference the report of the conference committee on the consular aod diplomatic appropria tion bill was submitted and adopted the senate took up the bill to prohiht enforcement contracts for servile labor relative to chinese coolie contracts mr casserly dem cal ), offered and advocated an amendment the senate took recess till evening evening session the joint resolution making an appro priation for a
