"Hub" it looking happy and hearty. Canada Pacific R. R. Editor .Ysirs: 1 desire through the columns of your paper to call the attention of our C anadian neighbors, and especaily the people of N I agn a, to the fact that tue great Canadian Pacific 11. K., stretching across !he continent from Montreal to the P'Clflo Ocean, and, having already mails its arrangements for a connection with Boston, is now reaching out one of its anus for a connection with N.'W York, and for that purpose the company ia contemplating a crossing of the Niagara Hiver between Lewlston and Youngstown, and forming a connection with the H W. & O. R. K. to Oswego, and thence to New York, via the Ne« York, Ontario & Western it.H. Now, 1 desire to impress upon the minds of our Niugatu friends the great importance of using all the means in their power, at once, to Induce the Company to make the crossing at this point inatoad of higher up tl e river. It would seem as though every consideration of self interest would prompt the Company to uial,e the crowing here, so as to secure and control the travel end commerce of thia end of Lake Oatario. By sending their cars across the river at this point ou ■•earn ferry boats, the great expense of u bridge higher up the river would be saved. I learn from lake and vessel men that there would be no more trouble In crossing the river here than at Detroit, the Ice obstruction being about the same there as here. Now, if iny brother Directors of the Atlira, Lockport & Youngstown K. It., and es pecially Mr Stevens, the President of our Company, will at once take tbe necessary steps for the construction of our road from Youngstown to Attica, ft will furnish the Cunadian Pacific with another direct line frotu the Niagata Klver to New York City, via the Erie ltoad. and In this way make tlie Attica, Lockport & Youngstown H K an Import lilt link in this great trans-contitietital Railroad. Very much of general In terest might be said upon the advantages of the crossing of the railroad at this point, but my only purpose at this time is to call the attention of our Niagara trinudalo th? tnv portancs of this question to t eniseifes, in order that the may put foi th every cffoi t in their power to make this tbo objective point for the crossing of this great railiood.
