[Side 1] Town of Clifton Park [?] To any Constable of Said Town Greeting Whereas Peter I Clapper, Overseer of Highways in and for road district No 43 in said town has this day made complaint on oath before me the undernamed Justice of the Peace of said town that he gave to Isaac VanValkenbergh who resides in said district, and is [?] to work on the Highways therein and (who has not commuted for such a [?]) twenty four hours previous notice to appear either in person or by an able bodied man as a substitute on the 29th day of November 1855 at 8. O’clock A.M. at the dwelling of Peter I Clapper and to bring with him a wagon and team of horses & shovel for the purpose of working on the Highway under the direction of the said Peter I Clapper, and [struck out: to bring with him] that said Isaac VanValkenbergh wholly neglected to appear pursuant to said notice, and that said Isaac has not rendered to said Peter I. Clapper any satisfactory excuse for his neglect aforersaid [sic]. You are therefore hereby commanded, in the name of the People of the State of New York to summon the said Isaac VanValkenbergh forthwith to appear before me at my office in Clifton Park aforesaid to show cause why he should not be fined according to law for the refusal or neglect in said complaint alledged [sic] against him.
