The history of Essex County contains a significant amount of mining operations in the Adirondack Mountains and the surrounding area. Some of the larger operations included the Cheever Mines and the National Lead Company, which on its own created multiple towns across Essex County. This collection contains various historical artifacts of these mining operations, including rock samples, tools, written records, photographs, maps, and blueprints.
