This rural scene depicting a covered bridge could be set in Vermont, as the work was labeled prior to its donation to The History Center. Norris was also known to have painted, in 1969, views of the local Speedsville and Halseyville (circa 1833) covered bridges, landmarks which have since been demolished.
Norris' late summer depiction of the covered Speedsville Bridge was completed in the last year of his life. It is a depiction of the entry to Speedsville, NY, to the southeast of Ithaca. 23 1/2"X 18".
