One out of every five thousand students will spend
hialife lIS a professional athlete. a eoaeh. or a player. One
out of every ten thousand will 11'0 ink> the professional
theater, a writer. an actor. a produeer. One out of two
thousand will make music R life's career. One out of every
thousand will in some form write for a living.
But ninety -nine out of every hundred Catholic otu·
dents will find religion the thing that goes with him all
th rough life. He'lI be a Calholic when he is no longer a
c]uarterback or the slar of the college comedy or the editor
of the scho(ll papu or the person wh(l makes the ivories
h(l]) or the microphone thmb.
He (or ahe) is a Cath(llic f(lr life.

become. for one of a thousand reasons. a fallen·away .)
Well. we are entering a decade when it i8 going to
be important to be all expert Catholic. a Catholic who
knows the reasons. R Catholic who loves his faith with fine
eourage and deep reaoonableness. Being a Catholic from
thia point on. mCans a struggle with Christ's enemies. It
means the presentation of a full Catholic life for the wor ld
to see and admire. It means Catholic leadership.
That is why the Summer School of Catholic Action ;5
important. It is" School of Catholic Leaders. It is the place
where the best men and wOmen of the nation',. Cat holic
campuses meet. It is the six.day seilsion during which
religion become .. an inspiration, leader~hip becomes a fine
art, and Catholic education takes on an importance and
a meanin¥, it never had before. It makes the students who
attend beeome Ihe most valuable leadere on the campus.
When the S,S.C.A. began. it was an experiment. It is
no longer an experiment, but" proved Maker of Spiritual
Leaders. That is why we dare to hope that this year in
New Orlea ns. Buffalo. and Chicago the largest number of
students on record will attend. That is why. concretely and
definitely. we are inviting rou. And the tuition for the "Six
DayS You Will Ne"er Forget'· is still $10.
