Dear Mr. Farley:- You may recall that last May I invited a number of our prominent citiznes to meet me in New York with a view to formulating plans for informing the public on the Permanent Public Works Amendment to the constitution to be voted upon this Fall. I was prevented from holding this conference because of temporary illness. Subsequently, there was undertaken the organization of a representative committee of citizens to support the proposed amendment. Your acceptance of membership on this committee will be greatly appreciated. To make clear the purpose of this amendment, I am enclosing an excerpt from my last annual message and the recommended program prepared by the heads of the State Departments. I am asking those who accept to meet me in the Executive Chamber at the Capitol on Thursday afternoon, October 8th, at 2 o'clock, at which time the recommended program will be presented for consideration.
